Description

This field placement provides introductory opportunities to apply various essential skills in early childhood settings. The Code of Ethical Conduct guides this first experience in the early childhood field and supports interactions with children, families and the cooperating teacher. Through self-reflection, students will process their experiences and progress towards becoming an effective educator. Students will create self-development goals to aid in this journey. Observations of children will inform lesson planning and implementation as well as the development of an understanding of presence and connections as it relates to intentionality when dealing with young children. Students will reflect on their observations, theory in practice, and questions they generate from their field placement experiences. Students will develop a personal philosophy regarding their approach to early care and education.
