Massage Therapy II (MTS 110)
Term: 2010-2011 AY - Spring Semester
This course is a continuation of MTS101 with a focus on problem solving techniques for specific musculoskeletal issues referred to massage therapy. Topics included are postural assessments, stretching, myofascial release, deep tissue, muscle energy and strain-counterstrain theory, active-isolated stretching as well as lymphatic drainage, reflexology, hydrotherapy and pregnancy massage. Practical use of the skills, techniques, terminology and communication with other healthcare providers will be a focus as well as referring problems to appropriate practitioners that are beyond the scope of practice as massage therapists. Prerequisites: BIO213, MTS101, MTS103, MTS107; Co-requisites: BIO214, MTS108, MTS109, MTS112.
