Children & Autism Spectrum Disorder (EDU 230)
Term: 2014-2015 AY - Summer Semester
This course is designed to foster an increased level of knowledge about the uniqueness of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Topics to be discussed include the child?s perception of his/her childhood, his/her experiences in various educational systems, and demands faced through the teen years. Common situations which are typically uncomfortable and the behaviors this discomfort creates for children with ASD will be discussed. Also scrutinized will be the implications this raises for teachers and other people within the child?s daily life. Prerequisite: EDU210; Corequisite: EDU225.
